Phil Jacobs Combo were a Blues group partial to the material of John Mayall with Eric Clapton and Cream. During 1968 they ran a Blues club in Willis St in an upstairs disused coffee bar until the Police closed them down for selling beers from under the counter, Phil Saunders then left to go to England and was replaced by George Limbidis on bass. They decided to go to Australia where they changed their name to Freshwater
