" Fifth Academy" was a band formed in Palmerston North in the late 1960's. Played most of the time around the Manawatu at pubs, clubs, ball's, etc. The band was well known for it`s five part vocal harmony. Garry Powell went on to join "The Forgiving" - John Somers went to Auckland to form "The Waiters"
